Anna Hepler received a BA from Oberlin College in 1992, and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 1994. She has spent many of the past years living and working in the Netherlands, South Korea, Cyprus, and last year in Rome, Italy. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally with great response. Her work is included in such prestige collections as the Tate Museum (London), National Gallery of Art (Washington DC) and deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park (Massachusetts).

Collage Statement:
These Collages, from 2009‐2010, began as an experiment in decision‐ making. I had a number of proofs from old woodblock prints and I began by cutting these and other found papers into shapes and gluing them to old book covers I had salvaged. In order to make my first move I had to rely completely on intuition and I found it challenging and curious how the composition developed through a series of intuitive acts. The process became a kind‐of warm‐up to other types of art making, and confirmed or strengthened my ability to follow actions without reason.
